The Pied Piper of Hamelin

We travel to the attractive town of Hamelin, where we are met by the Pied Piper himself!

Hamelin is a beautifully restored historical town with magnificent timber-framed and sandstone buildings, many of which date from the Renaissance period.

The old quarter centres around Osterstrasse and Pferdemarkt square. Between them are narrow, winding lanes dotted with cafés and inns, cosy beer gardens and pretty little shops.

Brocken Steam Train Ride & Historic Wernigerode

This morning we travel into the lovely Wernigerode, a beautifully preserved town with spectacular architecture, turrets and squares.

The 16th century Town Hall is imposing and the traditional wood carvings in Breite Strasse are impressive.

We then travel to Drei Annen Hohne for a steam train ride to the summit of Brocken, the highest mountain in the Harz.
