Welsh Highland Railway ride
Puffin Island Cruise
Morning visit to Portmeirion. Designed and built by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis between 1925 and 1975, Portmeirion recreates an Italian village, with a truly Mediterranean feel.
There are many unusual and romantically styled buildings and the village was the backdrop for the 1960s TV series ‘The Prisoner’. There is a shop selling the whole range of Portmeirion ware.
In the afternoon we enjoy a ride on the Welsh Highland Railway, through beautiful scenery back to Caernarfon.
We visit the pleasant seaside resort of Llandudno.
There’s plenty of time to stroll along the pleasant promenade or the longest pier in Wales. Alternatively, why not take a tram up the mighty Great Orme?
We return via Snowdonia and the Llanberis Pass.
In the morning, we take a memorable one hour cruise from Beaumaris Pier to Puffin island. The island has 12 species of sea birds resident including guillemots, cormorants, kittiwakes and of course, puffins! There is also a seal colony there, so make sure you remember your camera!
Afternoon visit to Plas Newydd. This splendid country house is set in beautiful gardens and has spectacular views across the Menai Straits.
With a warm Welsh welcome assured, the hotel offers a blend of Georgian and contemporary, it also boasts a central location within the town and offers first class facilities including a superb leisure club with swimming pool, restaurant and bar.
All rooms are en-suite with hairdryer, colour TV, tea/coffee facilities and telephone.
The hotel has a lift.
