A visit to nearby Rye an attractive and historic Cinque Port.
Said to be one of the best preserved medieval towns in England, Rye is home to enchanting cobbled streets, amazing buildings and a rich selection of specialist shops and antique dealers.
Before we return to the hotel this afternoon we will call at Beachy Head. A renowned beauty spot with fantastic views across the coast, visit the Countryside Centre on site to learn more of Beachy Head’s history.
This beautiful building is made up of three houses, the earliest dating back to the 15th century.
The house was furnished by the Lloyd family when they purchased the property in 1910.
Much of the original furnishings remain in place, along with various collections of artefacts.
The gardens surrounding the house are the lifelong work of Christopher Lloyd, a famous gardener and writer of gardening books. Admission is included to the house and gardens.
We will be visiting Arundel, a small hill top town which is home to Arundel Castle, seat of the Duke of Norfolk and also a catholic cathedral.
The town has a mix of interesting medieval and Victorian architecture, cobbled streets, narrow lanes and numerous tea shops.
We then continue on to Chichester, a beautiful Georgian city that has played a key role in Sussex history since Roman times.
The city is walled and compact, as well as the Norman cathedral there are many historic buildings as well as a vibrant mix of independent shops and restaurants
The Imperial is an impressive Victorian hotel, full of character, situated across the road from the promenade and bandstand, perfect for an early evening stroll.
The hotel offers a good standard of comfortable accommodation, relaxing lounge area and a large restaurant offering hearty, home cooked food.
