A visit to nearby Rye an attractive and historic Cinque Port.
Said to be one of the best preserved medieval towns in England, Rye is home to enchanting cobbled streets, amazing buildings and a rich selection of specialist shops and antique dealers.
Before we return to the hotel this afternoon we will call at Beachy Head. A renowned beauty spot with fantastic views across the coast, visit the Countryside Centre on site to learn more of Beachy Head’s history.
Leonardslee Lakes and Gardens described as ‘The Finest Woodland Gardens in England’, recently reopened to the public. First planted in 1801, the Grade I Listed gardens on the 240-acre estate features outstanding scenery throughout the year.
Visitors can explore a wide range of features including the unique dolls’ house exhibition - and the rare colony of wallabies, wildfowl and huge carp in the seven ponds.
We will be visiting Arundel, a small hill top town which is home to Arundel Castle, seat of the Duke of Norfolk and also a catholic cathedral.
The town has a mix of interesting medieval and Victorian architecture, cobbled streets, narrow lanes and numerous tea shops.
We then continue on to Chichester, a beautiful Georgian city that has played a key role in Sussex history since Roman times.
The city is walled and compact, as well as the Norman cathedral there are many historic buildings as well as a vibrant mix of independent shops and restaurants
Enjoy two days at leisure in Eastbourne. One of the foremost resorts on the south coast, Eastbourne has a wonderful promenade, Victorian Pier, Napoleonic fortress, leisure pool, Dotto Train and a 1930's Bandstand. Enjoy excellent shopping in the High Street and Arndale Centre. Best of all is the variety of cafes and restaurants, including excellent fish n’chips!
