Visits to Exeter and the Donkey Sanctuary
We travel to the delightful resort of Exmouth. In the afternoon, we take a cruise in the calm waters of the Exe Estuary, with an entertaining commentary. We pass Cockwood, Starcross and Powderham Castle, returning with marvellous views of Exmouth.
Historic Exeter has a magnificent cathedral, a ruined castle and one of the narrowest streets in the world! In the afternoon, we travel to Fursdon, one of Devon’s hidden gems, for a private guided tour and a cream tea. Fursdon is an elegant house with pleasant gardens; it is also one of Devon's oldest family homes - 23 generations of the family have lived on this site!
Optional morning visit to the Donkey Sanctuary, which has cared for many suffering animals. This working farm is home to donkeys, mules and hinnies, large and small. At the heart of the sanctuary, visitors can meet some of the hundreds of donkeys waiting to say hello!
Splendid highly-rated hotel, with Regency charm and grandeur in a wonderful position at the centre of Sidmouth’s elegant Esplanade. The Royal York and Faulkner has been family-owned and run for over 60 years and offers high standards of service. The public areas are spacious and this hotel is a firm favourite with our customers. All bedrooms are en-suite and have television and tea/coffee making facilities. There is a lift. Twin/Double rooms also available.
