Journey on The Laxey & Sneafell Moutain Railway
Steam Train to Port Erin
Entrance into Castle Rushen
We head north to the historic mining village of Laxey, home to the world’s largest working waterwheel “Isabella”.
From here we board the mountain railway at the “cottage” continuing up to Snaefell Peak, the highest point on the island offering a magnificent “birds eye” view of the island.
Later we continue north to Ramsey, the island’s second largest town for free time before returning to Douglas following part of the TT course, passing such landmarks as Kates Cottage, Keppel Gate and Windy Corner.
Enjoy the islands capital with its Victoria Pier and sandy beach, or take a ride on horse and cart along the seafront.
The hotel is within easy walking distance of all the local attractions and shops.
Join the iOM steam railway, operating with its original locos and carriages. The 16-mile journey transports you through charming countryside to Port Erin, where your coach will be waiting.
Entry to nearby Castle rushen, one of Europe’s most finely preserved medieval castles.
Afterwards, take a scenic coastal drive via Port St Mary and Port Erin, before proceeding up the west coast to Peel, famous for its kippers, castle and sandy beach, with tiny lanes and cathedral. Peel is the best place in Britain to see basking sharks and that are often the length of your coach regularly coming within yards of the shoreline.
Return along the TT circuit over tynwald Hill and the 1000 year old Manx Parliament.
Traditional hotel located on the seafront in Douglas, a short walk from the shops and a variety of bars and restaurants.
