Journey on The Laxey & Sneafell Moutain Railway
Steam Train to Port Erin
Entrance into Castle Rushen
We head north to the historic mining village of Laxey, home to the world’s largest working waterwheel “Isabella”.
From here we board the mountain railway at the “cottage” continuing up to Snaefell Peak, the highest point on the island offering a magnificent “birds eye” view of the island.
Later we continue north to Ramsey, the island’s second largest town for free time before returning to Douglas following part of the TT course, passing such landmarks as Kates Cottage, Keppel Gate and Windy Corner.
Enjoy the islands capital with its Victoria Pier and sandy beach, or take a ride on horse and cart along the seafront.
The hotel is within easy walking distance of all the local attractions and shops.
To the south lies Castletown. Once the capital of the Isle of Man, which is dominated by the magnificent fortress of Castle Rushen.
It is one of Europe’s most finely preserved medieval castles and with entrance included, it’s well worth a visit.
We then continue on to the fishing port of Peel, considered to be the most “Manx” of all towns with time to explore the tiny lanes, shops, harbour and museum.
Interestingly, Peel is one of the best places in the world to see basking sharks from shore.
Returning along part of the TT circuit, over Tynwald Hill to the Manx Parliament.
Traditional hotel located on the seafront in Douglas, a short walk from the shops and a variety of bars and restaurants.
All of the en-suite rooms feature a TV and tea/coffee facilities.
There is a lift.
