Rides on the Ffestiniog Railway, Welsh Highland Railway & Snowdon Mountain Railway
The Ffestiniog railway is the world's oldest narrow-gauge railway with almost 200 years of history, taking you on a 13½-mile journey from the harbour in Porthmadog to the slatequarrying town of Blaenau Ffestiniog.
The historic train climbs over 700 feet from sea level into the mountains through tranquil pastures and magnificent forests, past lakes and waterfalls, round tight bends (even a complete spiral) clinging to the side of the mountain or tunnelling through it.
We take a ride on the Welsh Highland Railway along the recently opened section from Caernarfon all the way to Porthmadog.
This steam train ride is truly unforgettable, as the track winds its way ‘coast to coast’ through beautiful Snowdonian scenery.
Twisting and turning to Beddgelert, the train then travels through the picturesque Pass of Aberglaslyn to the sea at Porthmadog.
A truly unforgettable day, travelling on the Snowdon Mountain Railway.
At 3560 feet, Snowdon is the ‘Rooftop of Wales’, with awe-inspiring views in every direction.
We begin our journey at Llanberis Station and the train climbs steeply through ancient forests, past a glistening waterfall and over two viaducts, before the ascent to the craggy summit.
The Summit Visitor Centre opened in 2009 and is a wonderful landmark building with refreshments and stunning views.
With a warm Welsh welcome assured, the hotel offers a blend of Georgian and contemporary, it also boasts a central location within the town and offers first class facilities including a superb leisure club with swimming pool, restaurant and bar.
All rooms are en-suite with hairdryer, colour TV, tea/coffee facilities and telephone.
