Ullswater steamer cruise
We journey to the shores of Coniston, situated beneath the slopes of the ‘Old Man’.
We continue to the pretty village of Hhawkshead for a lunch break.
The Beatrix Potter Gallery, a 17th Century building, was once the office of the local solicitor William Heelis, who married Beatrix Potter in 1913 and has remained largely unaltered since his day.
We travel to Ullswater and enjoy a steamer trip from Pooley Bridge to Glenridding; with spectacular views of mountains, plunging down to the lake, which inspired Wordsworth to compose his poem ‘Daffodils’.
We continue via the spectacular Kirkstone Pass and run along the lower slopes of Helvellyn; breaking for lunch in Keswick, beautifully situated on Dewentwater, beneath mighty Skiddaw.
Converted 18th century tannery set on five floors, situated on the banks of the River Kent in Kendal beneath the ruins of the town’s 12th century castle.
A short walk away is the centre of this market town.
